Senior Projects Spring 2022
Please join SSU's Department of Theatre Arts & Dance for our newly envisioned Senior Project Festival.
This Senior Project Festival is a production that is completely student driven. We have student directors, student choreographers, student designers, and student stage managers! This production is a great opportunity to see the compilation of everything our students have learned in their time with us at SSU while also viewing the topics/projects they are passionate about.
DATES: Saturday, April 30 at 2:00pm, Sunday, May 1 at 2:00pm, Friday, May 6 at 7:30pm
PROJECTS:
Alessandra Balestrieri-Jennings and Jasmyn Haralson (Dance)- Reflection
A compilation of research through movement that brings to light how media, society, gender stereotypes, and traumas shape our self image as children and affect us into early adulthood.
Marissa Salinas (Dance)- System
This project is based on one question, "what do you think or feel when you hear the phrase "The system is broken?"
Gabe Fernandez (Theatre Studies)- True West - Scene 7
Explores the nature of status within The United States through a selection from Sam Shepard's 1980 work, True West. The play is an examination of the relationship of two brothers as they fight over the creation of a screenplay, navigating their own interpersonal status and idealization of each other's lifestyle.
Terra Bransfield (Dance)- This (Continues to Be) Not Political
A hybrid of live dance-based performance and video content. I had started this project last Fall Dance (2020) because I found myself needing an outlet to work through many questions I have had in regards to society's outlook on identity, especially those that don’t conform to social constructs and expectations.
Jasmine Kaiulani (Dance)- checking in
A full dance production that portrays and surfaces mental health issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more, the realities of dealing with and facing such issues, and how individuals suffering from mental disorders maneuver around the world.
