Theatre Arts faculty member and Director of the Acting Program Marie Ramirez Downing and five Theatre Majors, Mia Staraci, Ally Liberty, Sydnie Crumrine-Thomsen, Maick Poroj, and Bucky Brynjegard-Bialik attended the American College Theatre Festival Region VII in Spokane, Washington in February.

Technical Theatre student, Aissa Simbulan, is the set designer for 6th Street Playhouse's production of August Wilson's Fences, opening January 12, 2024.

Stage Director for In the Heights, Marie Ramirez Downing, brought some of the cast members to perform a piece from the musical with the 4th and 5th grade music classes of Cali Calmécac Language Academy on December 15th at 6:30pm in their school gymnasium.

Prof. Christine Cali, co-Director of SSU’s Dance program, opens their sabbatical show PERFECT.RESPONSE, performing at the Joe Goode Annex in San Francisco, Nov. 30 - Dec. 2.

Last week, Co-Director of the Dance Program, Kristen Daley, taught a masterclass at the Santa Rosa Junior College Dance Program and brought six SSU students with her to spread the love of dance, community, and connection.

Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts, Performance, Marie Ramirez Downing spent a lot of her summer working with the CSU Summer Arts program.

Both Theatre Arts and Dance students and faculty will be presenting their research projects and the Arts & Humanities Research and Creativity Symposium for the SSU Week of Research and Creativity. Wednesday, May 3rd from 4-6:30pm in the Student Center Ballrooms!
